The excessive wearing away of teeth is becoming increasingly common. It can be caused by too much acid in the mouth from either the diet or heartburn (erosion), a tooth clenching or grinding habit (bruxism) or an inappropriate toothbrushing technique (abrasion).
Tooth wear can lead to poor appearance of the teeth, fracture of teeth and fillings and tooth sensitivity. Treatment combines preventing further damage and restoring the appearance and function with fillings and crowns.
A combination of white fillings, crowns and implants were used in the full mouth reconstruction of this patient who had excessive tooth wear. The appearance and chewing function were significantly improved.
